Dr. Smith is a paediatric ophthalmologist and strabismologist. His practice focuses on the primary, secondary and tertiary care of patients with strabismus and ocular motor disorders, as well as general paediatric ophthalmology. He is a staff ophthalmologist at The Hospital for Sick Children, as well as the Humber River Regional Hospital-Finch Site. He is co-director of the orthoptics department at The Hospital for Sick Children and co-chair of the strabismus rounds at the hospital. Dr. Smith is active in resident education and won the 1994/95 J.S. Crawford Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is also the recipient of the OMA 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award (Section of the Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario) in recognition of a distinguished career of service to the specialty of Ophthalmology.
