Ocular Oncology

Ocular oncology provides a complete multimodality management for patients with ocular and periocular tumours in one service. The program treats patients with primary ophthalmic tumours or metastatic cancers. Treatment usually requires the implementation of various modalities. Treatment modalities include surgical approaches such as tumour excision, tumour biopsies using different techniques, lasers and ocular injections, and enucleation with ocular prosthetics care. Radiotherapy treatments include: Brachytherapy, Stereotactic irradiation, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy, and Orthovoltage radiotherapy. Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, and Target Drug Therapy are available when indicated. Histopathologic, cytogenetic, and molecular genetic analysis of tumours are feasible to provide a personalized treatment and follow-up plan for each patient. The service is equipped with advanced diagnostic instruments for ocular photography, angiography, ultrasonography, and Optical Computerized Tomography.
