Dr. Michael Thai Binh Nguyen is a pediatric ophthalmologist, adult strabismus and cataract surgeon. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto. He obtained his medical degree from McMaster University and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto where he was Chief Resident and was awarded the Duncan Jamieson Memorial Prize and the Woywitka Cup Award for the graduating resident with the highest academic standing over five years. He then completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, and Harvard Medical School.

He is currently the Ophthalmology Residency Site Director of the Kensington Eye Institute and the Director of Undergraduate Ophthalmology Education for both the University of Toronto as well as the Hospital for Sick Children. He teaches medical students, residents, and fellows every day and has won numerous teaching awards including the prestigious PARO Trust Fund Resident Teaching Award.
