Dr. Sherif El-Defrawy, former Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences and Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at the Kensington Eye Institute, will retire from clinical practice in November 2025, marking the culmination of a distinguished career defined by national leadership, global outreach, and exceptional mentorship.

Led by Dr. Myrna Lichter, the Department’s Global Health Program advances eye health equity through education, research, and international partnerships, strengthening access to quality eye care for underserved communities worldwide.
